FG Mourns Brutal Murder of Hauwa Leman by Suspected Islamists By Justine Dyikuk

The Federal Government has expressed regret over the killing of another aid worker, Hauwa Leman by her Boko Haram abductors.

This shock was expressed by President Muhammadu Buhari who personally called Hauwa’s father Mr. Leman to condole with him.

President Buhari who also disclosed to the aid worker’s father that the Federal Government did all in its power to save her life but it proved abortive assured the family of government’s support in this trying time.

Hauwa Leman, who was working for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) was brutally shot by the Islamists who made good their threat of killing her if the needful is not done.

It would be recalled that the red cross had raised an alarm that members of the sect had threatened to kill the two medical aid workers, Hauwa Mohammed Liman and Alice Loksha,  in less than 24 hours.

The aid workers were working in Rann town of Borno State before they were abducted alongside Saifura Hussaini Ahmed Khorsa an ICRC midwife.

It would be recalled that the ICRC released a statement in September that Saifura was killed by the islamists who are identified as members of ISWA – an offshoot of Islamic State in West Africa.

The group claimed they killed Saifura and Hauwa because they are apostates who were once Muslims but abandoned Islam by choosing to work for the Red Cross and not the sect.

There are fears that Leah Sharibu is in the custody of this sect which has threatened to keep her as a slave.

The Geneva-based ICRC for whom both Saifura and Hauwa worked is known for working behind the scenes in war zones for humanitarian objectives.
