In its desire for peaceful coexistence in society, the Sharing Education And Learning for Life (SELL) Foundation Bauchi has embarked on awareness creation even as they encourage entrepreneurship.
It was on Saturday, 11/10/2018 at Kondori, a village some few kilometers away from Maiduguri, Borno State where members of the team engaged some Kanuri speaking people who turned out in their numbers, numbering up to seventy-six, (76) with about forty-nine (49) women and twenty-seven men to listen keenly to a talk on “Entrepreneurship for Peaceful Coexistence.”
“That was my first encounter with them and honestly, our time together was quite an experience. We began by exploring the meaning of trade or business as each individual understood it, used mostly the Hausa language which was used for interpretation where the need arises.
“We saw the need to develop an entrepreneurial mentality, raising business capital, being prudent with spending and maintaining good customer relations among other things” leader of the team, Moses Bakare, disclosed.
Speaking further to the locals on entrepreneurship, he said, “we both accepted that when one is busy doing something especially that which would put food on his/her table, provide a cover over his /her head and clothing etc, such will never allow anyone, no matter how highly placed or rich he/she may be to influence them into joining the band wagon for whatever reason.”
Bauchi Caritas gathered that all this was preparatory to the distribution of business items purchased and supplied in partnership with GAMMUN NGO as intervention to their sustenance.
Among the items distributed are sewing machines, grinding machines, cake baking materials, cap making materials, provisions such as sugar, beverages, toothbrush, butter, sugar cane and knife for cane vendor and many more.
Members of the host community who benefited from the programme and distribution who were mostly women and mothers were full of gratitude to SELL and GAMMUN for the gesture and blessed the duo for the little effort.
