INEC Trains Corp Members for 2019 Elections By Titiksha Kureve

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has trained potential Corp members for the 2019 general elections scheduled to hold on 23rd Feb, and 9th March respectively.

The training which commenced on the 29th (Tuesday) and lasted till 31st (Thursday) was held at
ATAP with Corp members segregated into different class rooms with delegate INEC officials delivering lectures to each group, at the venue.

The lecture which lasted several hours was aimed at educating Corp members on the importance of their participation in the forthcoming election exercise especially as Presiding Officers, and why they must be diligent to receive proper orientation on the best ways to discharge their duties during the elections.

During the lecture, lessons on security tips, voting procedure and guideline, as well as result collation and announcement were given, with Corp members asking questions for clarification where necessary.

The training also comprised of demonstrative sessions to aid better understanding of the course.

Corp members were assured that participation will not be for free as they are entitled to receive cash tokens from the Federal Government, for their efforts.

They were also assured that for participation in the training exercise, cash tokens will also be gifted to shortlisted candidates.

At the end of each training exercise, attendance was taken to serve as proof of participation, as well as an important criterion for shortlisting prospective participants in the 2019 General Elections.
