Lectors Challenged On Practicing What They Proclaim By Godwin Ogbonna

No fewer than 35 members of St. Jerome’s Liturgical Group of St.  James’ Catholic Church, Gombe were recently commissioned by Very Rev. Fr. John Keane (SMA).

New members of the Liturgical Group took the oath of allegiance to serve as Lectors before the Christian community.

Speaking earlier in his homily, Fr. Keane challenged the Lectors to be proactive and dedicated to their call

He urged them to live good Christian lives noting that what they read should be reflected in their public lives.

Keane stated that they should not allow politics, religion and personal interest to rule their lives.

He added that they should dress moderately so as not to distract people and also serve as inspiration to others.

Fr. Keane further stressed that they should make the Scripture their constant study and proclaim it when they are called to do so.

He maintained that they should not allow what they proclaim to stand against them or choke their spiritual lives.
